Dr. Teena L. Waltman, DVM, MS grew up near Chicora, PA and graduated from Butler Area Senior High School in 1984.  She received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Slippery Rock University in 1990.  Prior to attending Veterinary School, She received a Graduate Student Assistantship to attend Penn State University.  She received a Masters degree in Pathobiology there in 1993 and her research focused on the effects of bacterial toxins on birds.  Dr. Waltman then attended Purdue University, School of Veterinary Medicine and developed an interest in both Companion and Exotic Animal Medicine.

Upon graduation from Veterinary School, in 1997, Dr. Waltman returned to Pennsylvania to practice Routine, Emergency and Exotic Animal Care at Metropolitan Veterinary Centers South and West which are located in Dormont, PA and Robinsion Twp., PA.  After 11 years at Met Vet, She then worked 1.5 yrs as a Emergency Room Physician at Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center (PVSEC) which is located on Camp Horne Rd. in Pittsburgh.

However Dr. Waltman missed Small Animal practice.  So from 2010 to 2017 she became a Relief Veterinarian for Lighthouse Veterinary Personnel Services.  In that organization, she worked and travelled extensively providing Routine, Emergency and Surgical Care at multiple Veterinary Practices in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio.

Through her Relief Veterinary work she met Dr. Paul Eismann.  And, in 2010 she began occasionally seeing patients and performing Surgeries at Deer Creek Animal Hospital.  She eventually began working full time at Deer Creek following Dr. Eismann’s unexpected passing in May 2017.  She then purchased the Practice in the fall of 2017.

After almost 26 years of practicing Veterinary Medicine, she enjoys helping people and their pets through the diagnosis of challenging cases and by providing routine, emergency, surgical, exotic and companion animal care.  Dr. Waltman also enjoys family time, volunteering at her church, traveling, gardening, playing golf, swimming, and spending time outdoors.  She especially enjoys walks and playing ball with her Golden Retriever (Jax).  She also shares her home with her 4 cats ( Saltie, Roo, Annie, and Licorice)  and her African Grey Parrot (Lenore).

She has been a huge animal lover since she can remember.  She enjoys meeting every animal that comes through the clinic door.  Eventually, she would like to branch out to bigger patients with large animal medicine.  She also aspires to work with large animals like lions, tigers and bears.
